FAQ 24
Question: I am in the process of rebuilding a solex 34PICT-3 and pulled all the jets and volume control and bypass screws for a good cleaning. Unfortunately, I unscrewed the Bypass screw without checking on how far out it was (from a lightly seated position in the body). Is there a "suggested" number of turns out from the seated position? Answer: I can't remember off hand. Usually the number is about 2 turns. However, there is a specific process for the carb adjustment. It's kind of long so I haven't typed it out. The reference for this problem, (and many others) is John Muir's book "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive". Highly recommended. My review is online at: http://laudeman.com/bug_b_1562614800.html
