"Dune Buggies and Hot VWs" usually called "Hot VWs"
is a great magazine. The staff are dedicated, and the articles are good.
Every issue has a technical article, several photo spreads of air cooled
VWs, the usual letters to the editor, and often off road racing results.
There are also VW car show articles (with photos). Notice in the table
of contents from the July 2003 issue below that there are two technical
articles. The brakes article is more for beginners, but has good hints
anyone can use. The engine building article is more advanced, and this
is part 5, and there is at least one more installment where they dyno
the engine.
"Hot VWs" usually runs between 130 and 150 pages. That amounts
extra article or two, although "Hot VWs" also costs a bit
more. I've typed in the July 2003 table of contents below. The other
air cooled VW magazine, "VW Trends"
is right at 100 pages per issue.
I also subscribe to the other air cooled magazine "VW
Trends". Both are great, but I think the editorial quality
of "VW Trends" is just a little
better. If only get one magazine and you won't miss the off road race
reports, I'd recommend "VW Trends",
but it is a close call.
